Understand Union County ’s Real Estate Market

Union County, southeast of Charlotte, was formerly tranquil and rural, but it is now the fastest-growing county in the metro region and the 19th fastest expanding county in the US. Monroe, the county seat and a unique combination of history and present, is one of the county’s prospering municipalities. Wingate University, a private university, and the West Campus of South Piedmont Community College are located in a new location on Old Charlotte Highway.

If you’re a Charlotte-area newbie wanting to reside in Union, you’re probably most interested in the western portion of the county, near Mecklenburg’s I-485 outerbelt. Because of the increasing growth in this region, the Union County education system has built additional elementary, middle, and high schools. Area 10 contains Union County real estate listings.

Weddington, with a population of roughly 8,500 people, is mostly residential and rich. Weddington Corners shopping mall is the “town centre.” The Siskey Family YMCA in Charlotte, located on Weddington Road less than a mile from Union County, has a pool and water park, a running track, and other attractions.

Check either side of Providence Road; along Weddington-Matthews Road, Hemby Road, and Beulah Church Road; and along Marvin-Weddington Road, going into Marvin, for both new construction and older properties.

The majority of Marvin’s people relocated here for the country environment and acreage properties. There is also fresh building along Marvin-Weddington Road and Joe Kerr Road. Horse country extends from Marvin south to Waxhaw and beyond, and is a fantastic spot to seek for land if you want to maintain and ride horses.

Waxhaw is named after the Waxhaws, an Indian tribe who originally lived in the region. There are hundreds of antique and gift stores in town, as well as a summer outdoor play stage. Look for new construction along N.C. 16 toward Charlotte, N.C. 75 east and west of Waxhaw, and Rehobeth Road.

Wesley Chapel, located between Weddington and Monroe on N.C. 84 and Potter Road, formed in 1998 around a century-old neighbourhood. It contains a historic Methodist church, an elementary school, and a lot of lush undulating farmland. Look for new construction along Potter Road, south of N.C. 84, and Jim Parker Road. Look for new houses along Stevens Mill Road, Potter Road, Stallings Road, and Old Monroe Road near Indian Trail on either side of Stallings.

Indian Path, which started as an outpost along an Indian trading trail, is likewise rapidly expanding. New subdivisions, an additional US Highway 74 commercial complex, and proposals for new industrial parks are all accelerating expansion. New residences may be seen on each side of US 74, at Old Monroe Road, Waxhaw-Indian Trail Road, Wesley Chapel-Stouts Road, and Unionville-Indian Trail Road.

Lake Park, a subdivision off Unionville-Indian Trail Road that subsequently incorporated, is an example of “new urbanism,” or the use of design to aid in the creation of a sense of community. There are townhouses and single-family homes here, as well as festivals, a retail mall, and a private Christian school.

Hemby Bridge, a town that attempts to preserve some of its rural traditions, borders Mecklenburg east of US 74 on Secrest Short Cut Road. Along Stevens Mills Road, Mill Grove Road, and Indian Trail-Fairview Road, it has residences in a variety of price ranges. Unionville, which also maintains its rural beginnings, is located on US Highway 601 north of Monroe. Check out Lawyers Road, Sikes Mill Road, Unionville-Brief Road, and N.C. 218 for new construction.

Monroe, founded in 1844 and named after President James Monroe, is a unique combination of history and present, with stunning old restored buildings downtown as well as a lively commercial strip, airport, and industrial parks. With a population of about 26,000 people, it is the county’s largest city.

Many developed areas of town have inexpensive housing. Look just within the city along Rocky River Road, or just outside it along US 601 North, Secrest Short Cut Road, Sikes Mill Road, New Salem Road, Olive Branch Road, Walkup Ave., Goldmine Road, N.C. 75 toward Waxhaw, and N.C. 84 toward Weddington.

Cane Creek Park in Waxhaw is a 1,050-acre beauty in Union County. The park is surrounded by a 350-acre trophy bass lake, one of three in North Carolina. Cane Creek also has seven miles of hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding paths, as well as boat rentals, ball fields, and playgrounds.
